Designed by Decimus Burton, the Museum was opened in 1857 to accommodate a growing collection of economic products from plants and artefacts of vegetable origin. The building faces the Pond ­ all that remains of the 18th century Lake. It has recently been refurbished and is the centre of the Gardens' educational activities.
