A charming thatched cottage, originally used by Queen Charlotte and her children for picnics, lies concealed amongst the trees. The Queen's Cottage, as it is now known, and its 37 acres were presented to Kew by Queen Victoria in 1898 on condition that its woodland remained in its existing natural state.
